Social Entrepreneurship, Empowerment and Cohesion Project Starts in 11 Cities

SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN 11 CITIES

An important move is coming in the field of social entrepreneurship, which offers innovative solutions to social problems.

The Social Entrepreneurship, Empowerment and Cohesion Project, which covers 11 provinces of Turkey and focuses on women and youth, from refugees and host communities, starts on May 26.

For the SEECO project, which will be started with the participation of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, the EU Delegation to Turkey, World Bank officials and the ambassadors of EU member states, a launch will be held in Mardin, the city of civilizations.

Social Entrepreneurship, Empowerment and Cohesion Project, shortly SEECO, will be funded by the EU under the Facility for Refugees in Turkey (FRiT) and implemented by the World Bank and the Ministry of Industry and Technology General Directorate of Development Agencies.

39.5 MILLION EURO BUDGET

The project will be implemented in Adana, Mersin, Gaziantep, Adıyaman, Kilis, Mardin, Hatay, Osmaniye, Kahramanmaraş, Diyarbakır and Şanlıurfa provinces until 2025, with the local partnership of Çukurova, Eastern Mediterranean, Silkroad, Karacadağ and Tigris Development Agencies. The project with a total budget of 39.5 million Euros will be implemented by the Ministry of Industry and Technology and General Directorate of Development Agencies.

70 PERCENT OF WOMEN PARTICIPATION

With the project, activities to support social entrepreneurship for women and youth will be financed. The SEECO Project will implement its work with 70 percent women and 30 percent youth. Within the scope of the project, various activities will be carried out to support social enterprises and entrepreneurs under 3 components.

EDUCATION, SUPPORT AND ANALYSIS

Within the scope of the project, various trainings will be organized for women and youth. In the trainings, the entrepreneurship and business plan preparation skills of the participants will be developed. Mentoring and coaching support will be provided. New social enterprises will be supported up to 10 thousand euros and existing social enterprises up to 25 thousand euros. The needs and shortcomings of social entrepreneurs will be investigated, market analyzes will be made.

LIVELIHOOD FACILITIES WILL BE ESTABLISHED

Under the heading of Social Entrepreneurship and Livelihood Facilities, idle facilities will be renewed and 70 facilities will be established in 11 provinces, which can benefit at least 7 thousand people. These facilities will include entrepreneurship centres, workshops and ateliers, market and sales areas, and kindergartens and childcare facilities. In these facilities, studies will be carried out for the emergence and development of social enterprises.

CAPACITY WILL BE DEVELOPED

In addition, many organizations, meetings, seminars, and panels will be organized to raise awareness for the purpose of capacity building in the field of social entrepreneurship. Legal and corporate social entrepreneurship infrastructure will be established for Turkey.

CONTRIBUTION TO ENTERPRISE CULTURE

The project, which is a mobilization in social entrepreneurship, will give a new impulse to the entrepreneurship culture of the region. The meeting at the Mardin Grand Hotel will begin at 14:00 with the opening speeches of Mardin Governor Mahmut Demirtaş, Head of EU Delegation to Turkey Ambassador Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut, World Bank Turkey Director Auguste Tano Kouame and Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Çetin Ali Dönmez. At the meeting, which will take place in hybrid format, a panel of Success Stories in Social Entrepreneurship will be held after the opening speeches. Successful social enterprises will share their experiences at the panel.
